Internet Explorer 8 running with add-ons disabled

After installation of IE8, the message bar says "Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled. Click here to manage"

Problem

Installed IE8 over an existing IE7 installation on Windows XP. Running for the first time, the message bar contains the message: "Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled. Click here to manage" as below: -

In Tools, Internet Options, Program, Manage Add-ons, add-ons appear enabled. Can't remove message.

Solution

Previous installation of IE7 had the Develop Toolbar installed. IE8 has integrated Developer Tools accessed via F12 key.

Used Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the Developer Toolbar.
